Our Commitment to Healthy Puppies

Pexi Paws Kennel is committed to raising healthy, well cared for puppies and giving every family clear information from day one. Our puppies are raised with clean routines, proper nutrition, age appropriate veterinary care, and early socialization. This health and care policy explains what we cover, what we ask of you as the new owner, and the steps to follow if a health concern comes up.

Before Going Home

Veterinary Care Before Puppies Go Home

Before a puppy leaves our care, we focus on strong daily health habits and appropriate veterinary support. Each puppy is observed closely for appetite, energy, stool quality, hydration, and overall comfort. Puppies also receive age appropriate deworming and vaccinations based on their stage of development. A written health record is provided at pickup or delivery.

What We Cover

What the Health and Care Policy Covers

This guarantee is intended to protect families from unexpected, serious health conditions that are present before the puppy goes home. The guarantee covers congenital or hereditary conditions that significantly affect quality of life and are confirmed by a licensed veterinarian. A condition must be diagnosed within the time frame listed below and supported with written documentation.

Covered concerns generally include serious congenital or hereditary defects that impact normal function. This does not include minor or cosmetic issues that do not affect the puppy’s ability to live a normal life.

Required Exam

Time Frame for a New Puppy Exam

A wellness exam with your licensed veterinarian is required soon after your puppy arrives home. This exam helps confirm your puppy is adjusting well and allows early detection of any issues.

Recommended exam window

Within 72 hours of pickup or delivery, excluding Sundays and major holidays.

If you cannot schedule within this window, contact us immediately so we can note the situation and discuss the best option.

Early Illness Notice

Short Term Infectious Illness Notice

Young puppies can be vulnerable to common illnesses, especially during times of change and stress. The first week includes new food smells, new water, new surfaces, and new routines. While we take precautions, no breeder can guarantee a puppy will never get sick.

If your puppy shows signs such as vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, coughing, nasal discharge, or unusual lethargy, contact your veterinarian right away and notify us the same day. Prompt care protects your puppy and improves outcomes.

Exclusions

What Is Not Covered

The health and care policy does not cover conditions that are outside our control or related to new owner environment and care. Examples include:

  • Stress related digestive upset from travel or transition
  • Illness caused by exposure after the puppy leaves our care
  • Parasites that can be picked up after arrival home
  • Injuries, accidents, or negligence
  • Reactions to vaccines or medications given after leaving our care
  • Costs for routine care such as boosters, deworming, wellness visits, spay and neuter, grooming, or food
  • Conditions caused by failure to follow veterinary guidance

We also cannot guarantee adult size, coat type, color changes, shedding level, or temperament outcomes, since these can be influenced by genetics, training, socialization, and home environment.

Your Role

Owner Responsibilities

To keep your puppy protected, we ask every family to do the following:

  • Schedule the initial veterinary exam within the required time frame
  • Continue the vaccination series on schedule, as advised by your veterinarian
  • Maintain parasite prevention and proper hygiene
  • Provide fresh water, quality food, and a stable routine
  • Avoid high risk public areas until your veterinarian confirms vaccines are complete
  • Supervise carefully around stairs, pools, large dogs, and small children
  • Contact us quickly if you suspect a health concern

Following these steps reduces preventable illness and supports a smooth adjustment.

For Any Claim

Documentation Required for a Claim

If a veterinarian identifies a serious health concern, the following is required:

  • A written diagnosis from a licensed veterinarian
  • Copies of all exam notes and test results
  • The puppy’s health record and vaccination history
  • A clear timeline of symptoms, including when they started

We may request a second veterinary opinion for confirmation, especially for hereditary diagnoses.

Fair Resolution

Resolution Options

If a covered condition is confirmed within the guarantee period, Pexi Paws Kennel will work with you toward a fair resolution. Options may include:

  • Replacement puppy of equal value when available
  • Credit toward a future puppy
  • Other resolution discussed in writing based on the specific situation

Veterinary costs, travel costs, and related expenses are not covered unless specifically agreed to in writing.
